The UX process for each project is, and should be, different. This post documents the process I undertook for a green fields product at Apparel21.
PHASE 1: PRELIMINARY RESEARCH
Contacted clients who currently do activities covered by Product X
Performed survey / interviews to understand their current behaviour, tools they currently use and pain points
PHASE 2: DATA ANALYSIS
Affinity mapping of qualitative data regarding the current practice
Thematic analysis of responses
PHASE 3: SWOT ANALYSIS AND MPV DISCOVERY
SWOT Analysis to identify our strengths and weaknesses
Competitor analysis to understand this space better
Opportunities and threats based on competitor analysis
MPV determined
PHASE 4: MPV VALIDATION, FURTHER RESEARCH AND DATA ANALYSIS
Follow up survey and interviews to ensure MPV meets need
More detailed data collection/analysis regarding requirements
PHASE 5: USER STORY AND USER FLOW/JOURNEY
User Stories created
User Flow / Journey mapped at a high level
PHASE 6: SKETCHY WIREFRAMES
Created sketchy wireframes
Elicitation of new user stories and changes to flow
PHASE 7: PROJECT INCEPTION
Incepted epic with the research and sketchy wireframes
Broke epic down in to smaller user stories
PHASE 8: PAPER PROTOTYPE AND USABILITY TESTING
Created paper prototype
Created user tasks and script
Performed usability testing with real users
PHASE 9: UX IMPROVEMENTS
Collated responses
Analysed results
Presented results
Created new user stories for UX improvements
PHASE 10: INCREMENTAL DEVELOPMENT

UX improvements fed back as stories
